Please give a warm welcome to Meghann Lustgarten, DVM, DACVR, DACVSMR (Equine), DACVR-EDI, and her team! Friendship Veterinary Imaging Center had its soft opening last week with limited initial services, and we are excited to have them as part of our family. Friendship offers equine and small animal diagnostic imaging services and interventional procedures to Southern Pines and surrounding areas.
Dr. Meghann Lustgarten, a board-certified veterinary radiologist and sports medicine specialist, specializes in imaging and delivers precise, innovative, and compassionate care. She is one of the few veterinary radiologists in the country with deep experience and expertise in equine imaging. Dr. Lustgarten also volunteers at the North Carolina Zoo and serves on key veterinary examination committees.

Mastering Veterinary Medical Calculations for Improved Clinical Practice
Accurate medical calculations are fundamental to veterinary practice, directly impacting patient safety, treatment efficacy, and overall clinical outcomes. This presentation delves into the critical role of veterinary medical calculations, highlighting the importance of precision and attention to detail in dosing, fluid therapy, and anesthesia management.
The session will provide a comprehensive overview of essential calculation techniques, including dosage calculations, CRIs, dilution methods, and conversions between various units of measurement. Attendees will gain insights into common pitfalls and errors, and learn strategies to mitigate these risks through systematic approaches and the use of common math principles.
By the end of the presentation, veterinary professionals will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to enhance their calculation accuracy, ultimately leading to better patient care and improved clinical outcomes. This session is ideal for veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and students aiming to refine their calculation skills and ensure the highest standards of veterinary practice.
The veterinary profession offers both challenges and rewards. It’s crucial to pause regularly and acknowledge the positive experiences within your hospitals. We will start sharing a review each week from around the company. If you have a review you’d like to share, please respond to this email or reach out to marketing@thevetspets.com.
This week’s review acknowledges the Knightdale Animal Hospital team. Well done!
