Vets Pets is proud to announce the appointment of Audrey Lysko as Chief Operating Officer.

Audrey brings a wealth of operational leadership experience and a deep commitment to building strong, people-first organizations. In this role, she will help guide the continued growth of Vets Pets while supporting the teams, systems, and partnerships that drive exceptional care across the network.

Her leadership reflects the values at the core of Vets Pets: investing in people, strengthening hospital operations, and creating opportunities for veterinarians and their teams to thrive.

We’re excited to welcome Audrey to the leadership team and look forward to the impact she will make across our hospitals and communities. Read more here.

Congratulations to Kenia Figueroa, CVA, Practice Manager at White Oak Veterinary Hospital. Kenia and her husband, Luis, welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Elias Leonardo, on February 9, 2026, at 1:02 PM after 34 hours of labor. Elias weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and measured 21 inches long.

Kenia shared that Elias is definitely a morning baby and absolutely loves watching the sunshine come through the window. He has also developed a special friendship with ceiling fans everywhere, smiling and cooing at them whenever he gets the chance.

So far, Elias seems to be quite the little adventurer. He enjoys hikes, strolls through the park, car rides, and especially bath time. Kenia says he may become a swimmer someday, just like his dog brothers. “He’s been such a blessing to our family, and we are so in love with him,” Kenia shared.

We are so happy for Kenia and Luis on their sweet new addition!

Oak Heart Growing to Five!

Vets Pets and Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital are excited to open Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital at North Hills in early summer 2026. Located at 3700 Six Forks Road in Raleigh, the hospital will be the fifth in the Oak Heart family and will be led by Dr. Jake Clements.

North Hills is one of Raleigh’s fastest-growing areas, and with that growth has come a need for more veterinary care options. Oak Heart at North Hills will bring full-service companion animal medicine to a part of the city where demand continues to outpace availability.

AVL Animal Urgent Care: Down, But Not Out

When Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina in 2024, our nearly finished hospital was one small piece of a much larger loss. We are grateful to the Asheville community for the resilience they have shown, and to the partners and team members who stayed with us through every setback. The need that brought us here hadn’t changed, so we rebuilt.

Led by Dr. Ethan Abrams, who stayed committed through every setback, AVL Animal Urgent Care is moving forward with the same mission. To be here for this community and its pets when they need us most. Located at 17 Bryson Street in the Biltmore area, the hospital will offer same-day and walk-in urgent care to the community.

We are honored to be part of Asheville’s continued recovery. We officially open our doors to serve our patients in July.

The veterinary profession offers both challenges and rewards. It’s crucial to pause regularly and acknowledge the positive experiences within your hospitals. We will start sharing a review each week from around the company. If you have a review you’d like to share, please respond to this email or reach out to marketing@thevetspets.com.

This week’s review acknowledges the team at Nash County Animal Hospital. Well done!

A regular check up. Kal is a rescue from Houston Texas. And he doesn’t like the cold ! He is a big boy (weight 175lbs)…he was behaved and the staff treated him kindly. The vet and techs explained everything to us. Thank you for all you do!!
