Wilson, NC (October 22, 2019)Vets Pets, a North Carolina veterinary hospital network, announced the recent merger of two of the veterinary practices in its holdings. Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital (Points East VSH), the first and only veterinary specialty hospital directly east of Raleigh, and Eastern Carolina Veterinary Emergency and Treatment Service (ECVETS), an after-hours veterinary emergency clinic, merged on October 1 to establish a 24-hour specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in Wilson.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1569340034067{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”787″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true”][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Merging with ECVETS allows us to better serve pets in North Carolina,” said Dr. Sonja Szymeczek, DVM, MSpVM, Diplomate ACVS. “This move has enhanced our ability to deliver continuity of patient and client care with around the clock service and monitoring. It is exciting for our veterinary medical team and the pets of our region.”

Dr. Szymeczek grew up in Kannapolis, North Carolina. She attended North Carolina State University for both her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Her main interests include wound management, soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgery. She has been a board-certified member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2004, and she has worked in private practice helping performs life saving surgeries on both dogs and cats since.

Vets Pets handles the hospital’s practice management responsibilities, such as human resources, continuing education and equipment purchases, which allows on-site staff to focus on practicing medicine and the patients they love.
