In-clinic experiences help students and future career candidates gain real-world experiences needed to develop and apply their knowledge and skills in the workplace.  Various in-clinic experiences are offered throughout the year, providing space is available during the requested time period.  Vets Pets is excited to offer the following in-clinic experiences:

• Vet. Tech Externship: This experience applies to veterinary technology students seeking further hands-on training in one of our facilities for class credit.  During the externship, technician students may assist with restraint, patient appointments, specimen collection, diagnostics, anesthesia & surgical assisting, and hospital maintenance.  This experience is supervised by a licensed veterinary technician or staff veterinarian.
• Pre-Vet. Experience: This experience applies to rising college seniors seeking hands-on training experience that can be used toward their vet. school application.  During the pre-vet experience, students may assist with restraint, specimen collection, diagnostics, pharmacy, and hospital maintenance.  Other procedures offered at a certain location may be observed.
• HS Internship: This experience applies to rising High School seniors seeking real-world experience in a veterinary or resort facility.  The veterinary internship will only be approved for those students seeking VA certification.  This hands-on training experience offers entry-level training that will be useful for their future professional development.
• Observation: This experience applies to those individuals seeking observational learning experiences or job shadowing within one of our facilities. This experience is a short-term learning experience, usually less than 40 hours total, in which an individual gains an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of working in veterinary medicine.  The applicant should also sign the Vets Pets Observation Waiver Form.
