Join us Saturday, September 27 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM at Haven of Knightdale for an afternoon of fun for all.

We have a lot of fun planned, including casino games for adults, inflatable bull riding, bounce houses, great food and drinks, and more. We’re excited to host everyone at The Haven in Knightdale, and have created a landing page with everything you need for the event, including RSVP details, directions, and a list of activities.

Please RSVP “yes” or “no” as soon as you can so we can get an accurate headcount. We look forward to seeing everyone in late September!

Pharmacy Update

As many of you know, the central pharmacy is launching quickly and evolving just as fast. With new hospitals coming online, processes being refined daily, and infrastructure improving week by week, we wanted to share a few updates with you.

New Faxing Process
We’ve moved from our internal fax system to a more reliable process that sends prescriptions directly to the pharmacy. This ensures all submissions are received. A notification feature is in the works to confirm when prescriptions are opened.

Pricing Updates
We have updated several of our prices for shoppable items, including preventions, Apoquel, Zenrelia, Vetmedin, and others, to MAP pricing. This creates a more consistent and positive experience for both you and our clients. MAP is the minimum advertised price and matches what you would see on Chewy. We plan to update these prices at the practices as well, so thank you for your patience as we work through the changes in our PIM systems.

New Compounding Catalog
Here is a link to our updated catalog, which includes our compounding formulary and commercial gabapentin options. Printed copies are on the way to hospitals.

Nice vs. Kind – Difficult Conversations

Learn the difference between being nice and being kind, and their impacts. This session uses veterinary-based scenarios to highlight how nice leadership can unintentionally reinforce poor behaviors, while kind leadership encourages development, clear expectations, and stronger team dynamics. Learn tools to engage in conversations to improve communication, feedback, and decision-making in your own practices.

Compounded Preparations You May Not Realize Are in Your Toolbox

Compounding has been part of medicine for centuries—from ancient herbal mixtures to pharmacists customizing formulas behind the counter. In veterinary practice, however, compounding often carries an undeserved stigma. Whether shaped by past tragedies, academic bias, or skepticism toward commercially driven options, it’s easy to see how doubt can take root. But when used appropriately and in accordance with regulatory and scientific standards, compounded preparations are not fringe – they’re essential.

This CE session will highlight compounded dosage forms and clinical applications you may already be using without fully appreciating their potential. We’ll explore how compounding fills therapeutic gaps, improves compliance, and supports individualized care. Case examples and literature-based insights will guide our discussion, including a review of when compounding is appropriate – and when it’s not.

The veterinary profession offers both challenges and rewards. It’s crucial to pause regularly and acknowledge the positive experiences within your hospitals. We will start sharing reviews from around the company. If you have a review you’d like to share, please respond to this email or reach out to marketing@thevetspets.com.

This week’s review acknowledges the team at Healing Paws Veterinary Hospital. Well done!

“Exceptional care for my anxious 100lb dog! The staff went above and beyond by clearing the waiting room so he could enter comfortably, then took their time in the exam room to help him feel at ease. The vet and techs showed incredible patience and understanding – they recognized that his size made his anxiety seem intimidating, but treated him with such gentle care. Truly grateful for their compassionate approach. Highly recommend!”
