Employee Spotlight: Dr. Regan Stoneburner

Regan Stoneburner, DVM NCSU CVM, Class of 2020

Congrats to Regan Stoneburner who has worked at two of our Vets Pets locations including the Pet Emergency Clinic in Greenville, NC and Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Wilson, NC. She recently received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she honed her surgical skills performing more than 100 surgeries.

In Spring 2015, Regan joined Dr. Sonja Szymeczek to help launch Points East. Through her experience working with Dr. Szymeczek, she chose her path of becoming a board-certified veterinary surgeon. She will begin a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

We are proud to announce that Regan earned an outstanding financial award, alleviating the final year of tuition and fees, through the Michele M. and Ross M. Annable Scholarship. Most recently, she was the recipient of the ACVS Small Animal Surgery Award recognizing her proficiency and dedication to small animal surgery during her time at NCSU-CVM. This summer, Regan begins a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

During her studies, Regan participated in several research projects, earning her Top Honors in the NCSU CVM annual research day; was published in JAVMA; and has two additional manuscripts pending publication.

Fun Fact: Regan has an obsession with hound dogs, especially beagles. She has two beagles (Sadie and Josie) and an American Foxhound (Stryker) and she has been a foster parent through the Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina for the past 3 years.
